Director Rohit Shetty’s ‘Bol Bachchan’ has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark. Though the film has become a hit, the chances of it entering into the Rs 100 crore club appear grim. ‘Bol Bachchan’ has brought some relief for Abhishek Bachchan who was desperate to deliver a commercially successful film since a long time. Now, when the actor has finally given a hit film, will it be of great help to him in the future?

‘Bol Bachchan’ was termed as another Rohit Shetty film since the beginning. The track record of Rohit Shetty as a filmmaker is really good. Almost all of his films have done well at the box office. ‘Golmaal’ series and ‘Singham’ established Shetty among the money-spinners. ‘Bol Bachchan’ simply showcased his grip on the popular culture.

However, Abhishek Bachchan is not likely to be benefitted much from the success of ‘Bol Bachchan’. He has been praised for his acting in the film, but mainly within the film fraternity. Critics didn’t give him much footage; in fact Ajay Devgn grabbed the limelight in the eyes of the common spectators.

Devgn brought out the nuances of the character of a dumb-head wrestler in an apt manner. His one-liners evoked more laugh than Abhishek’s enactment of a gay character. The second winner of the film remained the action sequences. Rohit Shetty’s signature style of flying cars and colourful sets stole the show.

Abhishek has tried his hands in comedy in the past. He even got successful in ‘Bunty and Babli’ and ‘Dostana’, but that didn’t make him an A lister. ‘Bol Bachchan’ in way is the extension of ‘Dostana’ where Abhishek looked more confident, but he can’t be seen as an actor who can carry an entire film on his shoulders only. A hit film fetches profits for everyone associated with the film so he will definitely get his share, but to stay in the game he needs to come up with more engaging characters.
