Second only to Kareena Kapoor when it comes to delivering several 100 crore blockbusters, Asin has enjoyed huge successes in the form of Housefull 2, Ready and Ghajini with Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan respectively.
Though London Dreams turned out to be a faux pas (and her only flop in Bollywood), Asin is in mood to make amends with Bol Bachchan where she pairs up with her Ajay Devgn all over again. For someone known for her comic timing, especially after Housefull 2, has her comic act now been placed far more prominently by Rohit Shetty in the final cut of Bol Bachchan?
Laughs Asin, "If you know Rohit, you would realize that he pretty much sticks to the script. He is a director who carries certain vision regarding his films and does not deviate from that. Of course he appreciates my comic timing but then he had already carved a role for me in the film.
Whatever was narrated to me in the beginning was shot on the sets with no changes. Everybody went by what was written with no deviations. We were all very clear regarding our dialogues and characters so there weren't many improvisations that took shape on the sets."
However, despite her and Prachi Desai being around, Rohit was constantly engaged with his gang of boys (Ajay, Abhishek). Didn't that make the girls feel a tad alienated? Smiles Asin, "Well, what can I say here? I think Rohit is very comfortable with both of them.
He is not a very expressive person and likes to keep to himself. He has known both of them for decades and has a very friendly equation with them. They have their own 'boy stuff' to be shared. He is very open and friendly with people he knows and has worked with before. With others, he builds on over a period of time."
She goes on to add, "What is not known about him is that though he likes to act as a tough guy, in reality he is quite a softie at heart. However, the persona works for him. Also, he maintains discipline on the sets. For example, in the past I have seen that a few assistant directors are not really sure of what they are expected to do. However, in Rohit's team, everyone is hands on because he himself is quite clear about what he requires from them. Of course once there is a rapport established, he indeed turns very friendly."
There was good friendship that developed between Asin and Abhishek Bachchan as well. Even with Ajay Devgn as her on-screen partner, there are quite a few scenes that Asin shares with Abhishek too. "The kind of energy that he carries engulfs everyone in his vicinity.
Also, since he is very approachable and loves to talk, you can see him engaged with anyone and everyone, right from a junior assistant director to a technical crew member to a spot boy", she divulges, "In fact I have observed that there is a dip in the energy levels on the sets during days when Abhishek does not have a scene. The vibe and the atmosphere completely changes when he is around."
