Why Abhishek Bachchan is advised to chill over Aishwarya Rai's weighty criticism

Abhishek Bachchan, the proud father of his little bundle of joy, Aaradhya and even the prouder husband of Aishwarya Rai, is currently busy promoting his upcoming film 'Bol Bachchan'. He has been shooting almost non-stop for the film over the last few months.

Why Abhishek Bachchan is advised to chill over Aishwarya Rai's weighty criticism

While he was promoting the film, he opened up about his complete outrage over the bad press that his wife has been receiving due to her failure to get back to her former self in terms of her figure. He also gushed about his toddler daughter and said she was 'great fun' and 'such a blessing'.

Aishwarya Rai, former Miss World, actress and more recently, the mother of a strawberry-cheeked seven-month-old baby couldn't care less what the 'world' has to say about her post-baby weight gain. After all, she believes, 'negativity is like one drop in a huge ocean of positivity'. And she chooses to be happy about the love and blessings she receives.

However, the Bachchan scion, Abhishek is an angry-young man over some of the more 'insensitive' stories that have appeared in the media as Aishwarya failed to live up to the industry expectations and lose oodles of weight and go back to her former sultry and glamourous self.

He told an Indian daily DNA: "Yes, she's a public figure, but people forget she's also a woman and now a mother and there's a line that's not to be crossed. I don't talk that way about any woman ever and it's obviously not graceful for anyone to talk about her like that either."

He was absolutely livid and said that no one has the liberty to speak about Aishwarya like the way they sometimes do. 'They' being the media here. Well, the entire blame can hardly be laid at the media's doorstep when the stars themselves take a dig at their colleagues in the film industry. During her visit to Cannes Film Festival, Aishwarya had commented that she is not the one to embrace the idea of being a size zero. (Kareena was the first heroine in Bollywood, to gain headlines for her size 0.)

A few days back, Kareena Kapoor gave back as good she had got, without naming any names. She went on record saying 'being fat is not sexy' and she has no plans to look plump or fat. Now, everyone knows whom the remarks were directed at. She went on to add that it is every girl's dream to be thin and while voluptuous is sexy, fat is definitely out.

The war of words is not likely to end any time soon. What Abhishek should know better by now and should take heart from is that a heroine's shape or size does not rule over the box office. Kareena's recent film 'Agent Vinod' tanked, despite her fabulous figure. Vidya Balan's 'The Dirty Picture' turned out to be a blockbuster in spite of her figure. Therefore, no matter when Aishwarya picks up her acting mantle, her figure or the lack of it, will not guarantee a box office success. So, Abhishek can just take a chill pill.
