Prabhudva's action film Namak, headlining Shahid Kapoor is likely to have Katrina Kaif as the female lead. This will be a casting coup of sorts, considering the established popularity of the two stars. Apparently Prabhudeva has been keen on working with Katrina since he got to know her on the set of Wanted which headlined Salman Khan, (her then boyfriend) and she used to visit the set frequently.

"Katrina too is very enthusiastic about working with Prabhudheva. She knows he is a commercial director, who understands the pulse of filmgoers in the country. She has told him she will be free to do his film after Jaunary 2013. And Prabhudheva has no issues waiting for her to be free," an insider told Mumbai Mirror.

Namak's story has the drug business as its backdrop, and Shahid will play an action hero. He last played an action role in Vishal Bhardwaj's Kaminey. Katrina appeared in the action flick Race.

The Shahid and Katrina pairing has never happened on film, but their pairing has been previously considered a few times. Imtiaz Ali and wife Preeti's production company, PI films, had offered Katrina, 27, and Shahid, 31, the leads in their debut production 22 Tango, a remake of 2009 Korean film My Girlfriend is an Agent this April. In 2007 Rajkumar Santoshi wanted them in his directorial, but it never took off.

Katrina has not signed any new films post the three YRF films that she is doing with the Khans - Ek Tha Tiger with Salman Khan, Yash Chopra's yet-to-be-titled with Shah Rukh Khan, and Dhoom 3 with Aamir Khan.

Post the release of Shahid's Teri Meri Kahaani on June 22, Shahid will get busy with filming of YRF film to be directed by Maneesh Sharma. He will then move on to Bejoy Nambiar's Next. Filming is scheduled sometime in November. Any movie with these two together is going to sizzle! We can't wait to see the promos.
