The makers of Akshay Kumar- starrer Rowdy Rathore may come up with a sequel to the just- released action film. Akshay's `rowdy' avatar has become an instant hit with the fans and has kept the cash registers ringing at the box- office. The film has joined the Rs 100-crore business club. And, inspired by its roaring success, the makers are planning a sequel.
"As of now, we want to celebrate success. Be it sequel or prequel, we want to sit down and discuss. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Akshay Kumar, Prabhu Deva...we all will sit together and decide," the film's producer Siddharth Roy Kapoor told reporters last night.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali, one of the producers of Rowdy Rathore, said "We are definitely thinking about a sequel."Asked to react on filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra's recent comment about "rubbish films" making Rs 100 crore, Bhansali said, "He (Chopra) is my mentor. If he has said something like this, then I am happy."
Directed by Prabhu Deva, Rowdy Rathore, a remake of the 2006 Telugu hit Vikramarkudu, marked Akshay's comeback to action films after seven years. "People must be happy and that is what really matters. I will continue making action films. Within one or two week the announcement (about sequel) will come from production house," Prabhu Deva said.
