Actor Boman Irani’s speculative kissing scenes with choreographer- filmmaker-actor, Farah Khan, in their upcoming flick, Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, has put rumour mills to work. Being an expert at wisecracks, Irani jokes, “Kissing scenes? Oh, there are lots of kissing scenes. We rehearsed kissing all the time,” says the 52-year-old, during a recent visit to the Capital.

Ask him if the so-called ‘numerous’ lip-locks will give competition to the kissing record set by actor Mallika Sherawat, in Khwaish (2003), and Irani says, “Mallika Sherawat is like a nursery rhyme compared to them (the kisses in his film).” The actor will also be seen wearing only a towel, in a scene in the film.

Was this inspired from actor Ranbir Kapoor’s towel scene from Saawariya (2007)? “It’s not that. In Saawariya, Ranbir Kapoor had his back to the camera. I don’t have my back to the camera. I face the audience in the towel,” he adds. And are these the reasons why he decided to call this film his dirty picture? “I never said that. The press said it. It’s a very innocent picture. It’s about two 45-year-old’s falling in love. How much more innocent can it be?” says Irani.

Ask him if the film is a modern day take on the 1981 comedy Khatta Meetha, and the actor reveals, “No. Not at all.” Speaking about co-star Farah, who reportedly was very nervous before filming her debut outing as an actor,  Irani says, “It was quite an experience to work with Farah Khan, who went on and on about how nervous she was. But she had no reason to substantiate that fear. She was completely enjoying the attention, and the camera, and she just took to it like fish to water.”  Irani’s latest flick, filmmaker Rajesh Mapuskar’s Ferrari Ki Sawari, hit the screens today.
