The star has audience in splits when he copies Kareena's item dance. Bollywood's resident Rockstar Ranbir Kapoor rocked on Day II of the IIFA Awards 2012 in Singapore. See special He mimicked members of his family from greatgrandfather Prithviraj Kapoor and grandfather Raj Kapoor to cousin Kareena at the IIFA Rocks extravaganza. In the absence of the Khans, it was left to the budding superstar to add spice to the three day Bollywood extravaganza and Ranbir really played to the gallery to add life to the event, which till now was mostly seeing a smattering of B listers.
Friday night saw the Singapore Esplanade come alive with near pandemonium as a large number of fans - mostly girls - lined up outside the venue to catch a glimpse of Ranbir. Though the actor would arrive much later, his impatient female fan brigade spent close to few hours, waiting for him, screaming his name in frenzy. The Esplanade, a plush mall, was also the venue where the technical awards were given out on Friday besides the IIFA Rocks gala, a confluence of live music and fashion.
Ranbir took to the stage with the affable Vicky Donor star Ayushmann Khurrana. The two shared great camaraderie on stage. Ayushmann, officially hosting the do with Chitrangada Singh, couldn't resist a cracking joke at Ranbir's lineage. "Your family has been serving Hindi cinema for the past 80 years and my family for generations has been getting entertained by them," Ayushmann said. He also requested Ranbir to mimic actors from all three generations of the Kapoor clan.
Ranbir was sporting enough to do so. He did a great copy of great grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor, mimicking the famous line from Mughal- e- Azam: "Saleem, hum Anarkali ko deewar main chunwa denge ." In an impromptu act, he then rolled up his jeans to don a Raj Kapoor image and did a quick jig that reprised the dance steps of his grandfather on the classic song, Kisi ki muskurahato pe ho nisaar. As Ranbir's printed blue socks showed when he rolled up his jeans, Ayushmann couldn't help another cracker. " From IIFA rocks it has become IIFA socks," he quipped. Ranbir also did a dance reprising his dad Rishi Kapoor's trademark steps to the beats of the song Paisa yeh paisa. The audience was in splits when Ranbir took to copying his superstar cousin Kareena's moves in the song Bebo main Bebo.
"I hope you will not mind all this, as I am taking baby steps in the film industry," Ayushmann told the audience after Ranbir's act, to which Ranbir retorted: " I know how many babies you made in your last film." Ranbir and Ayushmann's on- stage chemistry left co- host Chitrangada Singh completely overshadowed. She looked ravishing in a black and golden embellished fusion outfit, though. The fashion show at IIFA Rocks saw Viv Richards and Neena Gupta's designerdaughter Masaba present her gold and black collection inspired by the IIFA theme.
