Even as Amitabh Bachchan believes that his latest movie Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap was better then Delhi Belly, the box office figures say something else. In his latest blog Big B went gaga over Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap, but his dream of doing better than Delhi Belly seems to have tanked. He was hoping that a slow start of Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap might pick up towards the end of the week. However, it seems the audience has chosen Delhi Belly's toilet humour over Big B's ode to himself as the angry young man. According to industry sources, Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap had done business of Rs 8.5 crore across 1,000 screens till Monday, while the collection from Delhi Belly, showcased at 1,200 screens, crossed a whopping Rs 30 crore. The figure might dishearten Big B, especially after he blogged this on the second day of the release of the films: "DB is good in select multiplexes and overseas pockets only. At 25-30% it has had a weak start in metros like Calcutta (10% in some cases), Jaipur, Pune, Surat and emerging Hindi metros like Kanpur and even Bombay is nowhere near as expected with Saturday collections clocking barely 25-30% bookings at multiplexes like Fame Adlabs still... Bbuddah did not have a great opening on Friday morning either, as had been pointed to by IBOS reports earlier. The difference is Bbuddah's picking up faster. And on Saturday itself Bbuddah will bypass Delhi Belly in a lot of the stations."
In fact, the senior Bachchan was hopeful that his rehash of Khaike Paan Banaraswala act and many others would grab more eyeballs than Delhi Belly. "The reports on Delhi Belly are mixed depending on segment of audience being identified. Some like its toilet humor while others would rather dump and flush it down the commode itself. The overall reports of BHTB are of the paying public overall approving Amitabh Bachchan's return to the active role after a long time, overlooking the film's other shortfalls," he wrote on the blog. Only Big B has miscalculated. He is pitted against the perfectionist Khan who has an unbeaten track record at promoting his movies. Aamir might have outdone Big B this time round, but that should not bother him. After all, he is Bollywood's Shehenshah.
