Sanjay Dutt roots for PriyamaniAfter his spat with RGV over the Department debacle, Sanjay Dutt is reportedly on a new mission these days promoting Priyamani. Apparently, he is keen on roping her into playing his love interest in his next untitled Hindi film, which is a remake of the Tamil hit Saamy. While director K.S. Ravikumar is considering a few B-town divas, Sanju Baba is reportedly pushing for Priyamani to reprise Trisha’s role in the original.

“In fact, Sanjay watched two of Priyamani’s diametrically opposite films; the Tamil film Paruthiveeran that won her the national award and the Telugu film Golimar, which had her in a glamorous role. “He thinks she’s a good choice. She would be playing the role of an innocent and orthodox girl who falls in love with a city police commissioner,” says a source close to the actress.

Meanwhile, Priyamani’s other B-town film has been deferred for a few months as director Chandrakant Singh replaced Riteish Deshmukh with Irfan Khan, who is basking in the success of Paan Singh Tomar. “Chandrakanth is reworking the script to suit Irfan Khan, but Priyamani will be doing the film,” the source adds.

With 50 days to spare in June and July, Priyamani could allot those dates to Sanjay’s cop story. The actress also celebrated her birthday recently on June 4 in Bengaluru. “It was a family affair and they all went out for a quiet dinner,” says the source. Reluctant to confirm Sanjay’s offer, Priyamani confessed, “Talks are on but nothing is fixed yet.” With Mani Rathnam’s Raavan failing to give her leverage, a film with Dutt could be her best bet to kick-start a B-town career once again.
