From being Lalita in Parineeta (2005) to playing Silk in The Dirty Picture (2011) and Vidya Bagchi in Kahaani (2012), actor Vidya Balan has surely come a long way. The 34-year-old, who is  on a high these days both professionally and personally (she is dating UTV honcho Siddharth Roy Kapur) is enjoying her time away from arch lights before she begins shooting for her next film, Raj Kumar Gupta’s Ghanchakkar, opposite Emraan Hashmi, in August.

After doing a double role for Aliva’s ad campaign, Vidya, who was recently in the Capital as the company’s brand ambassador, got chatty about being compared to Hollywood actor Meryl Streep,  her wish to play a double role on the big screen, and more.

It is very encouraging and thrilling to be compared to Meryl Streep. I feel humbled. But I feel I have a long way to go.

The Dirty Picture
This film changed my life forever. It has given me so much. I can’t thank Ekta and Milan Luthria enough.

Working with SRK
I always want to work with Shah Rukh. For me, he is the eternal romantic. Let’s see when it happens.

On double role
I want to do double roles. I love Sridevi in Chaalbaaz and Hema Malini in Seeta Aur Geeta.

On Ghanchakkar
I am excited as this is for the first time that I will be doing comedy on the big screen after Hum Paanch on TV.
