Actor Sonam Kapoor was quite a head-turner as she walked the red carpet at Cannes in a Dolce & Gabbana ensemble on the last day of the international film festival. While the designer and the ensemble had been kept under wraps until the final moment, the actor had revealed that unlike last year, this time around, she won’t be walking in an Indian attire. “As much as I love Indian wear, I’d hate to repeat my look, so no saris for me this time,” she’d said. But like last year, this time too, she was accompanied to Cannes by her sister Rhea, who’s also styled her.
The actor, who’d been busy attending parties and photoshoots these past few days, hoped to paint the town red on her last day there. “Last night at Cannes.... Gonna paint the town red!!” tweeted Sonam. This wasn’t her first time at the Croisette as she had attended Cannes festival last year. “Well, I’ll feel more of a pro at the red carpet, but it’s still just as exciting. I think that nice exciting feeling is always going to be there, no matter what red carpet moment it is. But yes, walking it feels like a proud moment, as people know you as an Indian actor. I’m very proud of that,” Sonam had said.
Though the actor was looking forward to meeting Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett, she did happen to meet another of her favourite actors, Audrey Tautou on the red carpet. “Just had a fan girl moment with audrey tautou! Omigod how gorg is she!” Sonam wrote on the microblogging site. Among the dinners that she attended there, was one where she was personally hosted by the head of a luxury house which was followed by a party to celebrate the world restoration premiere of Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in America. Also attending the do apparently were the likes of a host of international faces including Gemma Arterton, Jennifer Connelly, Salma Hayek-Pinault, James Woods, Naomi Watts, Gerard Butler, Robert De Niro, Alec Baldwin, Chris Pine, Brett Ratner, Robert Rodriguez, and Sophie Marceau, among others.
