It's official now. Indian spinner and captain of the Mumbai Indians IPL team, Harbhajan Singh, will marry his girlfriend, model-starlet Geeta Basra in September. The couple has been dating for around three years now and plans to take the relationship to its next level by formalising it.
Sources said the family members of both Bhajji and Geeta have already started preparations for the wedding. While the pre-nuptial ceremony will be held at Geeta's hometown Yorkshire in the UK, the marriage will be held in Jalandhar at the cricketer's residence. Sources close to Bhajji claim the marriage will be a glittering affair, to be attended by the bigwigs of the cricketing world, and Bollywood, besides corporate honchos and top politicians.
Geeta has been regularly spotted accompanying Bhajji at his matches, though the couple had been denying the relationship for family members reportedly had reservations about his choice of life partner. He has always evaded questions on marriage and mostly referred to Geeta as "good friend".
On her part, Geeta has gone on record, referring to Bhajji as a "special person in her life". There were rumours they had split in 2010, but the reports were subsequently quashed. Lately, both Bhajji and Geeta have been facing pressure from their respective families to settle down. Bhajji hails from a conservative, middle-class background and his Cricketer Harbhajan Singh (L); starlet Geeta Basra.
