Her critics might go around offering unwarranted condemnation of her so-called "unfounded global celebrity" status, but the truth is Freida Pinto can most definitely be termed the true crossover girl. From a small part in Slumdog Millionaire to big ticket Hollywood movies, Freida has a lot on her resume to prove her credentials.
She is also the only serious international export at Cannes this season that merits the attention she is receiving. As the brand ambassador of make-up giant L'Oreal, the star is busy rubbing shoulders with the who's who of international cinema but still took some time out to talk about her experiences.
She is proud of her ethnicity and said: "I think it's important to be extremely proud of one's origins...I am first and foremost an actress of Indian origin. I'll never forget where I'm from." The actress, who has worked with A-list directors like Danny Boyle, Jean-Jacques Annaud & Sean Penn, said their styles were different: "Each of them has a totally different approach to cinema. You always have to adapt to each director and their vision. That's what keeps this job interesting."
