Ajay Devan plays a pehelwan; his name is Prithviraj Raghuvanshi, who speaks incorrect English proudly. Abhishek Bachchan plays his sidekick in the film, but he is a Smart Aleck, who tells a lot of lies to wriggle out of tricky situations. We also see a twin of Abhishek in the trailer; his name is Abbas and he is decidedly queer.
Since Ajay’s character has a habit of translating Hindi into wacky English, in one such dialogue he tells Abhishek, “Tujhe paake meri chaathi chaudi ho gaya hai”, which he translates into English as: “My chest has become blouse”. And since a Rohit Shetty film can’t be complete without some car crashes, we see a plenty of pyrotechnics and stunts in the trailer.
Talking to a daily about the two main characters of Bol Bachchan, Rohit Shetty says, Ajay Devgan’s pehelwan is the most lovable character in the film, and Abhishek plays a raw, earthy guy, who has many shades to his character. The director even narrates a funny sequence from the film.
There are speculations that Abhi’s character Abbas is a spoof on his gay act in Dostana, but director Rohit Shetty completely denies it, and says he (Abhishek) had to be completely “besharam” and not come with baggage from his past roles. Abhi plays in Bol Bachchan a completely different character from anything he’s done before. The film, or at least a part of it, seems inspired from the 70s’ comedy Golmaal. Bol Bachchan releases on July 6 and also stars Prachi Desai and Asin.
