Talking about this, Ghosh Wednesday said: "There are talks. If it happens, great. If it doesn't, it didn't happen. It's at a very nascent stage." He was talking at the DVD release of "Kahaani". Known for its television shows like "Bigg Boss" and "Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi", the production company is set to roll the remakes on floors in September. Both the Tamil and Telugu versions will release in January 2013.
The company is currently in talks with some leading southern actors for the lead role in "Kahaani" remake. Sujoy Ghosh, who directed and co-produced the original script with Pen India Pvt Ltd, will step in as co-producer for the remakes as well, and will be working with a leading director from the south Indian film industry.
"I'm delighted to know that the film and the 'Kahaani' franchise are being handled by a reputed name in the entertainment industry like Endemol India," Ghosh said in a statement. "This association will help us reach out to audiences in the south. Here's looking forward to great success," he added. Endemol India plans to produce at least three to four films annually, with a balanced mix of southern and Bollywood scripts.
"After having produced content for some of the biggest format shows in the country, we realised it was time for us to venture into something new," said Deepak Dhar, CEO, Endemol India. "Filmmaking was always on the cards and we are delighted to finally set out to actually do it. We are already lining up projects for 2013 and are extremely excited about our first project, the remake of 'Kahaani', which will be in production soon," he added.
