After Katrina Kaif’s chartbusting item number Chikni Chameli from Agneepath created buzz, now Sonakshi Sinha will be seen swinging to a new masala track in Rowdy Rathore called Dhadang dhang dhang… chikni kamar. Insisting that there was absolutely no intention of being one up on the senior star, the Dabangg (2010) girl says, “Any talk about competition and comparisons with Katrina would be stupid. But if the topic does crop up, I’m prepared for it. It’ll go through one ear and out of the other.”
Sonakshi’s broad forehead, which was recently trending on the microblogging site Twitter, invited plenty of jokes. But the actor laughed them all off sportingly. Though she does admit that her ‘kamar’ (waist) could now get her ‘waisted’. “To each their own,” she asserts, adding, “Tastes differ from one person to the next, and while I don’t claim that it’s size zero, I know my waist is chikni.”
The actor points out that while the words Chikni kamar are an integral part of the lyrics, the makers decided to call the song Dhadang dhang dhang after the sound of the beat. Describing it as a catchy track with lots of dancing and energy that is not easy to replicate, she readily shares credit for her moves with choreographer-turned-director Prabhudheva.
“He is one of the best dancers in the country today and had plenty of insight that helped Akshay (Kumar) and me get into the mood. It’s a loud song and I had a blast shooting it,” she reminisces, before adding, “I love dancing. I don’t know how good I am at it, but once the music is turned up, I stop thinking and go crazy.” The film, which opens on June 1, will mark Akshay’s return to action after seven years and is Sonakshi’s second Bollywood outing.
