The song ‘Yeh maara, yeh maara, maara re sixer, maara re four’, that’s been playing in stadiums every time IPL team Mumbai Indians take to the field, is actually from Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s upcoming film, Ferrari Ki Sawaari. The song will go on air this Sunday.

Debutant director Rajesh Mapuskar started working on the track two-and-a-half years ago. “I went to music director Pritam with a concept,” he recalls. “Pritam had a ‘mastiwala’ (fun) song he’d play whenever his niece and nephew were down from the US. Together, we started developing it, and recently when I heard the song in the theatre, I thought it’s unbelievable”
 
The song has been shot as a cricket anthem that embodies the spirit of the sport, strikes an emotional chord and infuses the listener with energy. Vinod and the Ambanis (Mukesh and Nita), are good friends and they agreed that the song was a great tribute for Mumbai Indians.

“I haven’t been to a stadium yet, but I’ve heard they are playing my song. I wish I could watch the reactions live, it would be a proud moment. Maybe some day soon,” says Rajesh. Meanwhile, the film’s first promo mentions Sachin Tendulkar’s name. The buzz is the cricketer is doing a cameo. Rajesh laughs, “Wait and watch. On this subject, I’m following my boss’s line.” Sachin’s father, Ramesh Tendulkar, taught Rajesh Marathi when he was in school.

He used to stay in a hostel and for meals, Rajesh visited a family living in a nearby chawl. “Their son used to go to Shardashram Vidyamandir, Sachin who attended the same school often dropped by. Sir’s son (Sachin) was a shy boy, who later joined my college and then went on to become an icon,” says Rajesh. “I’ve directed him in a few ads, including Adidas and it amazes me that someone so big can be so simple. I’m not a cricket fan but I am a fan of Sachin, the man.”
