RGV: Blame Sholay for the failure of Aag

Once again, Ram Gopal Varma defended himself for his unsuccessful remake of Ramesh Sippy's blockbuster movie Sholay. 'If Sholay wasn't made aag wouldn't have been made..so the real culprit is Sholay..my case rests nd I will shut up for now,' he tweeted.

As far as his latest film Department is concerned, seven cameras have been used for the film. 'Incidentally like wht sme ppl ar thinking department has not been shot with canon 5 D alone..its just one of the 7 types of cameras used. Its been shot in multiple formats with 5D 7D Lumix Gopro Sony Nx5 nd 60D..each camera was used for its own uiqueness in capturing a shot. There were lots of rigs custom made to facilitate the complexly pre designed shots in all the hard core action scenes of Department,' RGV explained on Twitter.

He added: 'Idea of using these ws 2 tke advntage of their size nd weight 2 create angles nd movements whch ar nt possible wth conventional cameras. Department is a hard hitting action drama nd I wntd to apply a cmpltly new language of cinema In terms of both its camera work nd editing. Film is bout a story nd technique is hw u chose to narrate it..so it goes without saying that technique can nvr compensate fr lack of story.'

Department will release on May 18.
