John Abraham speaks out on Shah Rukh Khan's detention

Bollywood actor John Abraham took a pragmatic stand on Thursday regarding megastar Shah Rukh Khan's detention at the New York airport by the immigration authorities. "There's nothing wrong with it," said Abraham in an interview with tabloid! during his Dubai visit to promote his production Vicky Donor.

Abraham - whose credits include the US-based terrorism tale New York - added that interrogations at airports was a reality of the world that they existed in. "I have no idea about that [SRK incident]. But, I guess every country has got to do its [duty] with great diligence … At the end of the day, every country is justified to do it. You may find it irrational but that's the way it works. Today that's how the world is. I don't think there is any country that's rational today. If some country checks you in an airport, the others will check you at a hotel," said Abraham, who has starred in hit films such as Garam Masala and Dostana.

Moving to less grave subjects, Abraham - who has backed a love story set against the backdrop of infertility and sperm donation - claims that his production venture will set a benchmark in Bollywood. His war-cry? Marrying commerce with content. "I want to prove content is the hero of the film … Eventually, I want to get into direction - that is my final goal. But first, I want to be effective as a production house. I want to break the stereotypes that exist in Bollywod films.

That's where Vicky Donor comes. Shoojit [Sircar, director] has handled the subject of sperm donation with sensitivity and credibility," said Abraham. Meanwhile, the lead actor Ayushmann Khurrana - who had accompanied Abraham to Dubai - dubs his launch vehicle as a dream debut. "In real life, I had donated my sperm for a reality show and it turned out good. So, you can say that it was pre-destined that I act in a film about sperm-donation," said Khuranna. Vicky Donor releases in Dubai on Thursday.
