Cyclone hits sets of Imran-Anushka’s upcoming filmImran Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer film Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola faced a major mishap while shooting in Punjab last night. A cyclone caused a 20 feet light tower to break and fall on the shooting spot of Vishal Bhardwaj’s film, injuring 5 unit members.

To make things worse, there was no transport available, as the road was blocked with trees due to the heavy rains and storm. The unit members had to carry the injured on their shoulders to a safe place from where the ambulance took them to the hospital.

The lead pair of the film Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma were also present on the sets, but the duo are safe. One of the light boys was operated upon last night and two surgeries were done on Thursday morning.  The shoot has been stopped for the moment.

Vishal Bhardwaj, the director of the movie says, “My unit and I are extremely distressed by last night’s cyclone. Our only heartfelt concern is for our colleagues who were hurt badly on the set. ” Fox Star studios India CEO, Vijay Singh, “the incident is most unfortunate.  Damage to the equipment, though heavy, is replaceable, but our deep concern is for our injured unit members”. The shoot is 90 percent over with just 14 days work remaining. The unit is hoping to start the shoot again after the injured unit members recover.
