Aamir Khan seems to be the busiest and probably the most anxious star of Bollywood today. He is going all out to promote his upcoming TV talk show 'Satyamev Jayate' making it look as if to win, the truth also needs a push from Aamir Khan, the Bollywood guru of public relations, promotions, and marketing whose fertile brain keeps inventing novel ideas to generate buzz around his films and other commercial endeavours.
This time the number one star of Bollywood has put even his personal life on the promotional and publicity platter to serve the marketing cause of 'Satyamev Jayate'. He has allowed the cameras to delve into his household, and invade the 'privacy' and 'aazaadi' of his wife and child. According to a handout of his PR agency, Kiran Rao is quite 'annoyed' by all this and she required much convincing before letting the cameramen inside her house to shoot for the promos of the programme that have started airing now. One will never know if her 'annoyance' was real or a publicity ploy designed in connivance with the PR maestro Aamir, her friend, philosopher, and guide.
This suggests that Aamir is really concerned about the success of his TV debut and does not want to leave any stone unturned to make it as big a blockbuster hit as his last commercial film 3 IDIOTS. He is obviously doing it to defend, reinforce, and retain his numero-uno status within the industry. However, it also betrays his anxiety on the career and business front. He was never too ambitious, or into multitasking and would always do one thing at a time, putting in all his might behind the project on hand.
This seemingly is not the case anymore. He is presently involved with three major film projects - Reema Kagti's TALAASH, Yashraj's DHOOM 3, and Rajkumar Hirani's PEEKAY According to news reports he has also given a go ahead to a low budget film titled KASHMIRI GLASSHOUSE as a producer. His TV debut 'Sataymev Jayate' is his current pre-occupation that will be followed by DHOOM 3 preparations and shooting schedule, and then in December he will be busy shooting for PEEKAY.
The question is why is he keeping the promotion and release of his film TALAASH on hold? The film is shot, edited and ready yet its release dates are getting postponed while Aamir is busy doing everything else. It is almost a certainty that the film will not be released this year in spite of the fact that the film's teaser trailer was unveiled in January. Is he not aware that the tag of 'staleness' is quite damaging to the business prospects of a film?
