2011 has turned out to be a hectic year for Tusshar Kapoor. He has enjoyed two releases already and though LOVE U... MR. KALAKAAR! didn't quite set the cash registers ringing, there was good critical appreciation that came in for SHOR IN THE CITY. Now he is gearing up for the September release of HUM TUM SHABANA.
One wonders though where he is on the production plans. After all it wasn't too long ago that he was planning to turn a producer. With sister Ekta seeing good success coming her way as a producer, what with her strategy of mixing low (RAGINI MMS), medium (THE DIRTY PICTURE) as well as high budget (ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI - 2) films well, is he looking forward to going independent as well? "See I won't deny that there is a thought in my mind about turning a producer, "confesses Tusshar, "However as of now I don't have any major plans per se. I have just discussed with a few close associates that I aspire to turn a producer but it is untrue that there is something concrete already in place."
There were rumors though of him even going ahead and finalizing a few directors. "Come on, it is all way too early. None of that has happened and I haven't signed anybody," protests Tusshar, "It is all still work in progress as I don't even have a finalized script yet. When something really materializes, I will make a formal announcement."
