Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar would play in the fifth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) starting on April 4, a Mumbai Indians spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday.
The Mumbai Indians clarification came in the wake of doubts over Tendulkar's participation in the IPL after he flew to London on Tuesday to consult a specialist as he was discomforted by the aggravation of an old toe problem. The Mumbai Indians spokesperson said that the captain would return on March 31 and would be available for the entire IPL 5. He would join the team's preparatory camp for the T20 event.
It is learnt that he was feeling better and it would be just a routine check-up in London ahead of the IPL. Tendulkar, for last couple of years, has constantly been bothered by an inflammation in his right big toe. It is the same problem that troubled him before the start of the limited overs series in England last year, forcing him to miss it.
Tendulkar's absence from the felicitation programme organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in the honour of former cricketer Rahul Dravid on Tuesday evening had left many people surprised.
