Ever since The Dirty Picture and Vidya Balan stormed the screens there has been talk of a remake in the South. Leading production houses in the South are vying with each other for the remake rights.

There have been reports that the much coveted role played by Vidya Balan which was inspired by South sex siren, Silk Smitha will go to Nikita Thukral.

Ekta Kapoor was the producer of the Bollywood version and her representatives have said that they are considering a South remake but will not sell the rights entirely and will be co - producers of this venture. The hunt is on for the heroine and they want an established name so it is unlikely that Nikita will be considered for the role. So far, nobody has been finalized as most heroines are wary about doing such a bold role.
