Producer Boney Kapoor's first wife, Mona succumbed to cancer this morning. She was admitted in the Hinduja hospital in Mumbai where she had been undergoing treatment for cancer. She also suffered multiple organ failure and lost her vital signs. Mona is survived by her children Arjun and Anshula Kapoor.

Reports suggest that her children had sent out scores of messages early in the morning asking for people to donate O+ blood for their mother’s surgery which was to take place on Monday. Unfortunately, it was too late and doctors could do little to save her.

Mona worked as the CEO for Future Studios, the largest ready-to-shoot shooting studio in Mumbai. She was looking forward to her son’s (Arjun's) B’wood debut with the film ‘Ishaqzaade’ opposite Parineeti Chopra which is slated to release in May this year. Bollywood was shocked by her untimely demise and several stars expressed their grief on twitter.  Priety Zinta wrote - "R.I.P Mona Kapoor ! May her soul rest in peace. I did not know her personally, but I hear she was a brave woman of substance !"

Shekhar Kapur tweeted - "Cancer is taking away 2 many young people. Is there something in r lifestyles? Or chemicals in food cosmetics plastics or pollution? Will always remember Mona Kapoor for her kindness and gentleness. Known her since she first met Boney Kapoor (sic)."

Anupam Kher wrote- "Is God feeling insecure? He is calling all good people. Very sad to know about Mona Kapoor's death. She was a very helpful & kind lady. RIP" Dia Mirza tweeted - "Mona Kapoor leaves a legacy of graciousness and warmth that she gave in abundance to all...heart broken that she has moved on.RIP Mona Aunty" Sonam Kapoor wrote - "My aunt @monakapoor3 funeral is at 10.30 am Tom 26th at pavan hans."
