Actor Geeta Basra, who has been off the screen for around five years after her last film The Train: Some Lines Should Never Be Crossed(2007), has signed a three-film contract with producer Nitin Manmohan’s One Up Productions, which includes the sequel of Dus (2005). “It’s not about time, but about doing good cinema and one Friday. It’s never too late in the industry. You keep working hard and the rest is destiny,” says the two-film old actor, undeterred by the large gap.
Geeta refrains from divulging much about the Dus sequel, as still in a very nascent stage. “The preparations are on. I have signed three-film contract with them, so lets see which one comes first,” she says, adding, “The others include a Satish Kaushik film and one more that I’m not sure of yet.”
Dus was an action-thriller with a stellar cast including Suniel Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Zayed Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Dia Mirza. Prod her on whether she will be seen doing action in the film too, she says, “I hope so. I’m looking forward to it. Dus is known as an action film, so hopefully the girls get to do some action in the sequel.”
Finally, ask her why she kept away from the silver screen for such a long time and she explains, “It was a conscious decision. I never wanted to do anything redundant and not worthwhile. I made up my mind to only do movies that help me grow as an actor.”
