If the Bollywood razzle-dazzle at the IPL opening at YMCA College of Physical Education in Chennai wasn’t enough, we now have the American singer, songwriter and actress Katy Perry coming to Chennai next week for a gig. There had been talks of an international artist performing at IPL opening, but now the confirmation has come from IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla himself.

Rajeev Shukla says the IPL is going to be bigger this year than it has been in the last four years since its start. This year, Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra will perform a special act at IPL opening. Amitabh Bachchan has been roped in as the host.

Katy Perry, whose singing is in contralto range, had previously come to India in 2010 to get married to the British comedian Russell Brand. She got married in a traditional Hindu ceremony near the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan. However, the couple split in December last year.
