Big bindis, kitchen politics, saas-bahu saga seems to have taken a backseat when it comes to small screen. Family drama is getting bolder and with the recent episode of Bade Ache Lagate Hai, Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar have taken the daily soap world by storm which clearly indicates that the makers are definitely pushing the envelope.
The producers of the show apparently have understood the nerve of the audience and after creating a buzz by promoting the steamy promos for quite some time now, the episode finally got them the required attention. The scene has gone viral on the net and the curiosity has further multiplied.
Juhi Parmar, who emerged as the winner of Bigg Boss season 5, the most controversial show believes that till the time, there is an aesthetic sense to a scene, it should not bother anyone. “Television was always bolder. A lip-lock might have not happened in any serial, but people get to see so many things on small screen. When people produce content for TV, they are aware about the limits. So, if something is done aesthetically, it’s not wrong,” explains Juhi Parmar.
Known for her upfront attitude and bold image, Pooja Bedi agrees with the change and claims, “Soaps are certainly getting bolder as nowadays, people see a connect and also like to identify themselves with the characters on-screen. It’s just a reflection of changing trend within people in India.”
Poonam Pandey, the bare-all model, who entered small screen with Khatron Ke Khiladi, but couldn’t make it to the Bigg Boss house, is excited about the changing trend. “Well, it’s great to know that soaps are changing and good to know that people are improving their mindset. For how long one will show saas-bahu fights, they can show that, but it’s important to move with the generation,” asserts the controversial babe.
Rajan Shahi, TV producer of top-grosser show like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Bidaai, which impressed the audience, believes that it’s a responsibility of every maker to know what you are serving people. “I think a lip-lock has happened even in the past on the small screen. I think it depends on what kind of show you are doing and the slot you have. As a maker, it’s my responsibility to have sense and keep in mind the family audience. However, younger generation is comfortable watching bold stuff and now things are changing accordingly.
Television has always promised free entertainment to the ‘aam-janta’ in just a click of a button. However, social networking sites have played a vital role even in the past in knowing people’s opinion about the glam-world. Meanwhile, some soap lovers are pleasantly shocked by the evolution and few are also expressing the shock value attached to it.
Ram Kapoor’s weight issue had initially put the makers in trouble, but now the overwhelming response to the show has made the lead happier and about the same, he tweeted, “What a response to yesterday's episode. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you (sic).”
Actress Bhairavi Goswami, who grabbed attention by her IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) comment on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, now in another attention seeking attempt tweeted, “R ppl actually telling me Sakshi Tanwar is way hotter than me. Ahem. Gulp. Uh. Ok (sic).”
Rangita PritishNandy, daughter of Pritish Nandy, politician, media and television personality tweeted, “Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar had sex? I want to see! Is there a link/repeat?(sic)” Few other tweeple too poked fun at the high-voltage drama. MTVIndia tweeted, “So Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar had sex on a show. are ekta se pucho Drty picture hit ho gayi to srl bhi drty kar do gi kya(sic)."
Abhishek Jain, a lover of daily soaps too expressed his opinion by tweeting, “when I was a child my mom didn't let me watch bold & the beautiful. but now v all watch Ram Kapoor & Sakshi Tanwar, sitting together(sic)." There are few sections of soap lovers, who have expressed their dislike for such a bold step. A mother of two, who doesn’t wish to disclose her identity, expressed that it was a very uncomfortable situation for her and she didn’t appreciate the scene on her favourite daily soap.
