I have a new life now Comments by Vivek OberoiApoorva Lakhia's 2007 feature film, Shootout at Lokhandwala, was a hit, but what garnered more attention was the off-screen rivalry between the lead actors, Sanjay Dutt and Vivek Oberoi. As with most male feuds, the two were at odds because of their shared affection for actress Maanyata. Tensions then escalated between them, when Dutt started dating the actress. Oberoi's nasty comments about Maanyata, on the sets of the film, further fuelled the star war.

Now after four years and some life-changing events, Vivek and Sanjay have decided to bury the hatchet. They are even embarking on a new project together, titled Zilla Ghaziabad. With regard to his patch-up, Vivek told Mumbai Mirror, "It's all a matter of the past. There was a problem, but that's all sorted now. Sanjay was very kind to me and he gave me his best wishes and blessings. I also invited him to my wedding. I congratulated him and Manya bhabhi on the birth of their children. I feel great. I feel like it's a whole new beginning. I feel like I have a new life. What else will a guy want?" And his new beginning does not just involve one with Sanjay. The actor had taken time off to unlearn the ways of being a bachelor and condition himself to be a good husband to Priyanka. He explained, "Getting married is a life changing experience. I just wanted to take time off, to get to know her and travel around. Do all the romantic stuff, before I get to work again. Also, I wanted to take a break because I had worked so intensely for a year, back to back, doing Rakhcharitra. It was like doing six films ya part one, part two, in three languages. Aditya Chopra had advised me many years ago that whenever you are confused, don't do anything, step back and take perspective.

And actually if you think about it, in life it's such a practical solution. So I stepped back, took some time off, got into the whole family space, got into renovating our Juhu bungalow, and just spent time with Priyanka. That's also a different experience altogether, de-bachelorising the entire house, redesigning it with her. I never saw myself as the guy who would be sitting with interior decorators, looking through flooring samples and paint colours."

After his long hiatus from the industry, Vivek decided to mark his return in Rakesh Roshan's Krissh 3. With regard to his decision to get on-board, Vivek said, "I got a call from Guddu uncle (Mr.Rakesh Roshan). To my absolute honour, he told me that ever since he wrote the script, he wanted me to play the character. He told me to read the script. He said it was one of the most phenomenal characters that he had ever created. I then read the script and I felt it was outstanding. Now, the hope is that I play this baddie so good that it becomes the Gabbar of my career. I am currently undergoing physical training. Since the Krrish series is action- packed, we will undergo training overseas."
