Shreya Ghoshal, playback singer best known for singing in Hindi films, turns 28 today. Twitter has been swamped with messages for the young singer who sings in many languages including Bengali, Assamese, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu.
Among the wishes is that of her colleague Sunidhi Chauhan. "Very Happy Happy Birthday to you Shreya! God Bless you :)," she posted. Actor Sonam Kapoor wished her too, as did many of her followers.
Shreya Ghoshal has already spent a decade in the industry as a playback singer. She was selected in year 2000 by director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and music director Ismail Darbar as the voice of "Paro" played by Aishwarya Rai in Devdas. She was launched as a playback singer in 2002 with the release of the music of Devdas.
With a slew of prestigious awards in her kitty, including two successive National Awards for Best Female Playback Singer in 2007 (Ye Ishq Hai from the film Jab We Met) and 2008 (for songs from Bengali film Antaheen and the Marathi film Jogva) Shreya is often hailed as the "young legend."
She has worked with music directors like Aadesh Shrivastava, Adnan Sami, Ajay-Atul, Amar Mohile, Amit Trivedi, Anand Milind, Anand Modak, Anu Malik, Anand Raj Anand and A R Rahman, among many others. Here's wishing a happy birthday to the singer who recently made us go Ooh La La.
