It seems like actor Emraan Hashmi has taken his entire image-makeover exercise rather literally. Not only is the make-over now reflecting in the actor’s choice of films, but Emraan has also undergone a complete look makeover for one of his films.
“Yes, the flab has replaced all his six-pack abs and we’ve given him a buck tooth too,” reveals filmmaker Dibaker Banerjee who will be directing Emraan and actor Abhay Deol in his political thriller Shanghai. Emraan himself admits that going for a look-makeover is not without risks for an actor, but then, he says that as an actor he’s never shied away from experimenting.
“In fact, I would hate to play it safe. It’s just not the word for me. Be it a comedy, a thriller or a romcom, I’m game for all. And I believe in giving myself up to the director completely. As an actor, he can make me do whatever he wants,” insists Emraan.
Talking about his role in Shanghai, the actor reveals that there are many shades to his character. “I enjoy bringing out the complexities that a character like this one offers. And it includes getting into a look that’s not like the Emraan the audience has seen before at all,” adds the actor. An impressive line-up of films ahead, Emraan feels that he’s happy with the kind of roles coming his way. “It’s an interesting mix, for sure.”
But ask him if there’s any bitterness about not being cast in the sequel to his hit film Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai and he shrugs it off. “That’s not my call to take. And I never bother about things that are not for me to decide, so, no, there’s no bitterness. I am sure if they have a role they’d want me to do, they would approach me, so no hard feelings,” signs off Emraan.
