Ranbir Kapoor gets film struck!

Actor Ranbir Kapoor may be creating ripples in mainstream Bollywood movies, but the actor believes in pursuing his dreams as well. While direction has always interested the actor who made his debut with Saawariya, he is all set to release his first short film that he has conceptualised and starred in. Though this time, he hasn’t donned the director’s hat, the actor has left no stone unturned to make sure this film gets treated as any other commercial film release.

A source close to the actor reveals, “Though the film will be released as an online short film, the four minute short film titled, New Star of India, will have a formal premiere hosted by Ranbir this month where all the co-stars will be invited and introduced to members of the media and the industry. This has been touted as India’s first ever film where the entire cast of the film was asked to send in their auditions via Facebook.

” The source further adds, “For Ranbir, this is his passion project and he has put together a world class team to take this forward as he wanted to treat it with as much importance with as much attention to detail as any other film. After having worked as an AD with his father on Aa Ab Laut Chalein and then with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, this is Ranbir’s own endeavour where he took charge of the action on and behind the camera. The idea for Ranbir was to pioneer the idea of new age entertainment that combines the power of a story with the speed of a short film.”

While more details will be revealed soon, the scale of the production was treated like a full length feature film with a large team and setup. The shoot took six days to complete and three huge sets were put up at Ramoji Rao studios in Hyderabad. The technical equipment and specifically the cameras used were some of the most technologically advanced cameras that were previously used for Hollywood majors like the Bourne series.
