Bollywood actor John Abraham, sentenced in a 2006 hit-and-run case, was detained Friday pending a hearing on his bail plea in the high court, police said.

A magistrate's court had in 2010 sentenced him to 15 days simple imprisonment and fined him Rs.15,000. He had appealed in a sessions court and obtained bail. The court dismissed his plea Friday. Earlier, In October 2010, the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate Court had sentenced the actor to 15 days imprisonment in the same case.
