Going by his onscreen image, it may be hard to imagine that actor Emraan Hashmi is actually quite the family man off it. This revelation may come as a shock, but insiders insist that the actor is actually not a party animal, and prefers to go back home to his wife and son as soon as the shoots are over. A source close to the actor says, “It may be hard to believe, but when not working, he prefers to spend all his time with his son and wife. You’ll hardly see him party, unless it’s his film related event. And though he doesn’t talk much about it, he’s a complete family guy.”

In fact, off late, Emraan’s not only been scheduling his films in a way that gives him more time to spend with his family, but has been choosing films keeping in mind his son too. “He now wants to do films that his son can watch,” adds the source. Ask Emraan, and he says that he treats work like work and doesn’t carry it home. As for his sexed-up tag, the actor says that he’s “not ashamed of it” but feels that the tag was putting limitations on the kind of roles coming his way. But now all that seems to have changed. “As an actor, I don’t mind doing what I did, but I also want to do roles that take me beyond just that,” he explains.

Buzz is that he will be playing a journalist in the forthcoming Shanghai, but the character will also be shown to be involved in some kind of a porn-racket. Point that out and he laughs, “What can I say, it’s hard to disassociate the ‘sexed-up image’ with me, I guess.” On a serious note, he adds, “To a large extent I feel that it’s just a word that’s treated rather unfairly in our society. But I think that the taboo associated with the word (sex) is slowly fading away.” The actor also feels that it’s becoming more acceptable than it was a few years back. “And if in a way I can bring that respectability to the word then why not?” he smiles.
