Shahid Kapoor has signed his next, a remake of the 2012 Tamil action film, Vettai, headlining Arya and Madhavan. The film is to be produced by UTV and directed by N. Linguswamy, who directed the original, which was released on Pongal, January 14, to rave reviews. The remake will mark Linguswami's directorial debut in Bollywood.

Shahid, 31, will play the role played by Arya in the original. The film will have two male leads and two female leads. The rest of the cast is yet to be finalized. The film is a story of two brothers and their love interests who are sisters.

Vettai will be Shahid's first South remake. The film is scheduled to begin production in April. Shahid has signed on for Maneesh Sharma's (Band Baaja Baaraat) next with co-star Anushka Sharma but the filming has been delayed due to Maneesh's back ailment.

Shahid is reportedly in negotiations for Taurani brothers' next with her Vivaah co-star Amrita Rao. He recently wrapped up Kunal Kohli's yet to be titled romance film with co-star Priyanka Chopra. The film is due in theaters on June 22. Earlier this month, Shahid opted out of Punit Malhotra's next to be produced by Dharma Productions. Some of the other films that Shahid turned down recently include Vinod Chopra's Chitthiyan and Ekta Kapoor's Once Upon a Time In Mumbai 2.
