On Sunday night, Pakistani actor Veena Malik was thrown a surprise birthday party by her industry friends here. But what surprised everyone was the innocuous absence of her rumoured boyfriend, actor Ashmit Patel from the event. A source present there says, “It was a nice birthday bash, thrown by Veena’s friends from the industry. She looked really happy, posing for pictures, dancing and mingling with the guests.” But something else that caught everyone’s attention was the fact that Veena’s rumoured beau Ashmit was missing from the scene.

“Well, it didn’t go unnoticed that Veena’s boyfriend was not there. It was surprising, since everyone was expecting him to be there to celebrate Veena’s birthday. But he chose to skip the event,” the source adds. This comes after Veena turned up for Ashmit’s birthday party in full force. “Apparently, she even told some of her close friends that they are not that close any more, and they don’t meet often.”Both Veena and Ashmit were seen as a couple since their stint on the reality show, Bigg Boss.

But the party still managed to conjure up some controversy, when apparently actor Bobby Darling kissed Veena on her lips. Other guests present at the party were industry folks, Rajiv Kashyap, Rajiv Ruia, Rajan Verma, Anand Balraj, Vijay Bhatia, Rashmi Pitre, Ishq Bector and Karanvir Bohra. On the professional front, Veena is looking forward to three of her films — Mumbai 125 KM, Zindagi 50-50, and Dal Mein Kuch Kala Hai.
