Soha Ali Khan, who will soon be seen in the sequel to director Tigmanshu Dhulia’s 2011 hit Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, has revealed that her character meets a tragic end in the film. “I die in the end,” says Soha, adding that she plays Irrfan Khan’s oppressed wife.

The actor also adds that her role is similar to the one she essayed in National Award- winning Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh’s Antarmahal: Views of the Inner Chamber (2005). “I signed this film because I like murder stories. My character appears to be an oppressed wife — a girl being manipulated, used, subjugated and tormented. Yet there are lots of twist and turns,” says Soha, adding “I haven’t really done such a role after Antarmahal, which had similar bedroom politics and intrigue.”

Her long-completed film Chaurahen, directed by Rajshree Ojha, is finally releasing on March 16. It is Rajshree’s first independent film, one she made much before the Sonam Kapoor-starrer Aisha (2010). Soha reveals that she agreed to do the film after seeing Rajshree’s short film Moment (1999) that fetched her Student Academy Award, a competition held by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for college and university filmmakers in the US. “She had come from America, I from England.We had thought that we could make whatever we felt right,” says Soha.

And Soha is also set to return to Bengali cinema soon. After making her debut with Iti Srikanta in 2004, the actor is set to work in director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s next. She says, “I am in talks with Aniruddha. He is working on a screenplay that I find interesting. It might be a Bengali or bilingual project, but I would like to work with him because he is a progressive director.”
