Lately, Farah Khan has been really busy with direction and acting to choreograph dances for movies. But she couldn’t refuse brother Sajid Khan and ended up directing five tracks for his much-awaited sequel, Housefull 2: The Dirty Dozen. There are the two papa songs,Papa jaag jayenge, jaane kab tak satayenge, shshsh volume kam kar…, that she describes as a typical Sajid-in-the-house kind of caper, and Papa band bajaye….

Featuring the four heroes (Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh and Shreyas Talpade) in colourful tuxedoes and retro-style glasses with their controlling pa-in-laws (Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty and Boman Irani), it has the feel of a Blues Brother number.

Then, there’s a number featuring the couples  in Bangkok and of course, Malaika Arora’s sizzling item number, Anarkali disco chali… “When I was told about the item number, I’d hoped it would be with Malaika. We’re friends and have a great track record together,” Farah reminisces, adding that after Chaiya chaiya…(Dil Se, 1997) and Munni badnaam hui… (Dabangg, 2010), everyone was expecting them to score a hat-trick. “That put us under a lot of pressure.”

From the promos, Anarkali disco chali…looks ready to steam up the charts, inviting comparisons with Aishwarya Rai’s Bachchan’s Kajra re… from Bunty Aur Babli (2005). “It’s not at all like that item number,” insists Farah, saying that despite the name she was sure Anarkali would not be a desi girl like Munni or Shah Rukh Khan’s hippy co-passenger. ‘In fcat, I’ve kept the steps very western. It’s JLO (Jennifer Lopez) and Beyonce in Bollywood!”Farah is currently shooting a song for Karan Johar’s Student Of  The Year in Kashmir.
