In a year, Katrina Kaif has virtually travelled around the world. In 2011, the Bollywood star flagged off Kabir Khan’s spy thriller, Ek Tha Tiger, co-starring Salman Khan, in Ireland. She then moved with the Yash Raj production to Turkey, then India and is currently filming it in Havana.
“The Cuba schedule has gone off well,” says the 26-year-old actor who has earlier worked with Kabir in New York (2009) and Salman in films like Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya (2005), Partner (2007), Yuvvraj (2008), Tees Maar Khan (2010, he appeared in a song) and Bodyguard (2011, she appeared in the title track). “Together, we make a fabulous team. There is still some work left and we plan to wrap up the film that has been locked for an Eid release, in Thailand.”
From there, if time permits, Katrina will fly back to Mumbai. She was in the city late last year for 10 days to film the Agneepath chartbuster,Chikni Chameli… and a couple of TV commercials for brands she endorses. After that, she moved to Delhi to complete the on-going schedule for Ek Tha Tiger, and air-dashed to London for a brief holiday with her mother and sisters around Christmas and New Year.
After touching down in Mumbai early this year, she shot with Shah Rukh Khan for Yash Chopra’s untitled Diwali release for a couple of days before taking off to Havana, Cuba. Before air- dashing to London now for Yash Chopra’s directorial comeback that went on the floors on January 9, she will complete the Thailand schedule of Kabir’s film.
The third schedule of Yash Chopra’s romantic movie will be in Kashmir. But Katrina won’t be camping in India for too long because around December, Karan Johar’s Dostana sequel will roll in London, giving her another chance to celebrate Christmas and bring in the New Year at home. “Over the last one year, I’ve practically covered the globe,” Katrina admits.
“It’s fun to shoot in London because I get to spend time with my mum and sisters. Christmas this year was so much fun, we caught up after ages.” Earlier, this year, she performed with Shah Rukh at the Colors’ Screen Awards in Mumbai. It was their first stage performance together. Quiz her on it and she says, “He’s a wonderful co-star and a thorough gentleman. We’ve shot together briefly and Shah Rukh made me really comfortable on the sets. From the feedback I’ve got, people like our pairing and performance.”
