Actors Tusshar Kapoor and Vidya Balan, both of who’s last big screen outing had been The Dirty Picture are now readying for their next releases. But while Milan Luthria’s film had them play each other’s love interest as co-stars, this time around the two find themselves pitted against each other at the Box Office. Come March 9, Vidya will have her first release of the year with Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani, while Tusshar’s first this year is Sameer Karnik’s Chaar Din Ki Chaandni that will also release on the same day. But insiders say that this on screen rivalry is not taking any toll on their off screen friendship.
“Both Tusshar and Vidya are fond of each other, so there’s no sense of rivalry at all between the two, even though their films are releasing on the same date,” say sources close to the two actors. “Also, both the actors are aware that their films cater to different genres altogether and are also confident of their own films, so besides their films releasing on the same date, there’s no clash as such between the two,” adds the source.
“Of course, both of them would want their films to do better, but there’s only a healthy competition between them. The two have been seen catching up with each other at the various awards events of late, and they have been extremely cordial to each other,” says an insider, who adds that since both the films belong to different genres altogether, there’s no sense of outdoing each other. “Vidya’s film is an intense thriller, while Tusshar’s film is a hard-core comedy. Each film has its own kind of an audience, so it’s not like they will eat into each other’s business,” adds the insider.
Ask Tusshar about it and he confirms that both the films cater to different genres and will not affect his equation with Vidya at all. “I am sure Vidya is wonderful in Kahaani, after all she is one of the best actors in Bollywood today. She is a dear co-star, so, why would there be friction between both of us?” he quips.
