Think of a fashion showstopper, and Bollywood actor Govinda’s name is probably an unlikely hit. But the star and his starlet-daughter Narmada Ahuja are set to make their first appearance on the ramp together at designer Reynu Tandon’s show on the final day of the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India
Fashion Week (WLIFW).

Tandon mentions that the Bollywood family approached her, saying, “In the past, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Minissha Lamba and Mugdha Godse have all walked the ramp for me. So this time, when they mentioned it, I felt honoured to have Govinda and Narmada as we are good friends. Plus, I felt Narmada would really suit the holiday wear I will be showcasing this season.”

Tandon reveals that the comic actor has lost over 16 kilos to make himself more ramp appropriate. Both the actors will be seen wearing western garments, with minimal bling. Their outfits are still under construction. Ask Narmada whether she’s worried about her famous dad stealing her spotlight and she says, “No father would ever do that. Besides, at the end of the day, everybody has their own style.” Adding that Govinda feels walking with her for the first time is “special”, she admits they haven’t practiced their catwalk together.

Professing confidence, she says, “I’m not nervous, because I’ll be with my family.” The WLIFW, which began on February 15 in New Delhi will conclude on February 19 with the finale show being JJ Valaya’s. Meanwhile, back in Bollywood, Govinda is due to begin shooting for Pahlaj Nihalani’s Avatar soon. Unfortunately, Narmada’s debut film is still stuck due to casting issues.
