Lavish nuptial captures IndiaCelebrities stint when it comes to weddings? Please. These extravagant star-studded events present the perfect opportunity to impress colleagues, paparazzi and fans with lavish jewels, towering cakes, and couture gowns.

With plenty of financial firepower, stars throw weddings that often compete with major world events for media attention. In Bollywood, the 2012 celeb-wedding season has officially kicked off with the joining of stars Genelia D'Souza and Riteish Deshmukh.

Bollywood loves a wedding, and all of Tinsel Town’s shiniest were present at this star-studded affair. Like most Indian weddings, the celebrations were drawn out over four-days, culminating in a resplendent reception held at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai’s Santacruz area.

Stars, politicians and industrialists all gathered to offer good wishes to the bride and groom. D’Souza was reportedly radiant in a peach lehenga that featured a heavy veil and stunning gold embroidery over the whole outfit.

Notable cameos from Bollywood included Amitabh Bachchan , Shah Rukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor. However, the honor of most distinguished guest went to new mother Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who’s been reclusive since the birth of her daughter, the infamously nicknamed Beti B.

The marriage and reception, respectively, took place February 3-4, with the wedding ceremony following Maharashtrian tradition (an ethnic group located in Western India). The groom rode into the wedding on a white horse and was in high sprits as he posted Tweets about the event, including a picture of himself and his bride simply labeled “Mr. and Mrs. Deshmukh.”

The couple later had a Christian wedding at St Anne's Church in Mumbai. No announcements of the honeymoon have been made as the couple had to depart immediately to join the cricket circuit as Deshmukh is vice-captain of the Mumbai Heroes. However, it’s reported the couple has purchased a flat in the stylish Mumbai suburb of Juhu.
