A film produced by one of Bollywood’s biggest names is set to open the International Indian Film Academy Festival in Toronto later this month. The IIFA announced in Mumbai Monday that actor Salman Khan’s first film as a producer, Chillar Party, will kick off the three-day festival of Indo-Canadian cinema.

The film, a comedy that follows the lives of seven children, is Khan’s first co-production. “Chillar Party is very close to my heart, the concept appealed to me, and the children’s performances were endearing,” Khan said in a news release.

The IIFA festival, which will screen both Bollywood blockbusters and classic films, began in 2005 in order to give international audiences in the awards’ host country an understanding of Indian cinema. The festival will take place in theatres across Toronto and vicinity, beginning June 24. The highly anticipated IIFA celebrations are expected to draw approximately 40,000 visitors to Ontario.
