Surely, it’s a ‘prime’ moment in Imran Khan’s career. The young Khan has been invited for an official dinner, to be hosted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in honour of the visiting Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, and his wife Veena. The PM’s

high-profile dinner is scheduled today at 8 pm at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi. Apparently, Dr Ramgoolam had asked to meet the young Khan from among Bollywood’s glitterati, since Imran’s films such as Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008) and I Hate Luv Storys (2010) have done very well in Mauritius.

“Imran has become a well-known Bollywood face in the island country. He is excited to have been invited by the PM, since not many get this honour so early in their career. He’s making sure he doesn’t miss out on the opportunity,” says a member of his entourage.

It’s believed that Imran has especially asked Karan Johar (producer of his upcoming Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu) to give him some time off from the busy promotions to accommodate the dinner. “Since they are already in Delhi for the promotions of Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Imran wants to go for the dinner. He is discussing the schedule with Karan,” says the team member.

When contacted, Imran says, “It’s a great honour to be invited for dinner by PM. Since I am in the middle of promotions, I have requested Karan to give me a couple of hours off to attend the special event.” A few days ago, Kolaveri di star Dhanush was invited by the PM for an official gala in honour of his Japanese counterpart Yoshihiko Noda.
