Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan beat up my husband Shirish Kunder badly, director Farah Khan said on Monday in an exclusive interview to India Today Online. She said contrary to gossip that Shah Rukh had slapped Kunder, Farah said Shah Rukh and his bodyguards beat up Kunder badly.
Farah confirmed the assault and said that filmstar Sanjay Dutt's party had turned out to be a nightmare for them. She said Shah Rukh caught an unsuspecting Shirish from behind and thrashed him. "He pulled his hair and twisted his neck, behaving wildly and uncontrollably," Farah said.
Before Shirish could react, even SRK's bodyguards pounced on him. Sanjay Dutt had to intervene to rescue Shirish with difficulty, she said. "Shah Rukh has always told me that physical abuse is the worst way to sort out any problem. Shah Rukh has done the same and it is quite unbelievable," said Farah to India Today Online.
"It has made me immensely sad to see him behaving so rashly and impulsively," she added. Headlines Today reported that a tweet by by Shirish had triggered the altercation. On the day SRK's Ra.One released, he had tweeted: "I just heard a Rs.150 Cr firework fizzle."
The filmmaker later published comments sent to him, one of which said: "The superhero in Ra.One has all the powers in the world but to entertain!" Kunder had earlier taken to his Twitter account to say: "Thanks for all your concern & wishes. We are very grateful. Contrary to rumours, we have no intention of filing a FIR or police complaint."
Shah Rukh Khan's tweet on Monday night made only an indirect reference to the episode. "Another long nite. Shooting for a public service msg film about education peace & harmony. Feels ironic when I read & see wot is being said," he said, without making any mention of the fracas. The other celebrities present at the party, however, have come out in support of King Khan, saying Kunder had it coming.
"Shahrukh is supr rockin.. Good he gave it 2 shirish. people shud learn 2 b grateful to king khan, aftrall he has been so supportive 2 farah. Glad@iamsrk told shirish off n put him in place. srk has done so much 4 farah. they shud b grateful n not abusing srk (sic)," Ameesha Patel tweeted. "I was present at Sanj's party & Without Any Bias I Fully Support Shah Rukh (sic)," celebrity photographer Dabboo Ratnani tweeted. Dutt had hosted the bash at the popular Juhu nightspot to celebrate the successful opening of Agneepath.
