Akshay Kumar was visibly excited as he announced single mother Shipra Khanna from Shimla, the winner of Masterchef India season 2. Shipra defeated Bengaluru's Salma Shazia Fathima, who was the first runner-up and Siliguri's Joseph Rozario, to win the title.
Akshay, who was a co-host on the show's inaugural season, came as a guest on this year's finale, which was telecast in two parts. With Joseph getting eliminated in the first round, Shipra and Shazia gave each other a tough fight in the final task, which saw each of them preparing an innovative dish for 100 commoners, who voted for them afterwards. Shipra scored 53 of the total votes, which earned her the prestigious title, the Rs.1 crore grand prize and her own television cookery show.
