By comparing Sharman Joshi to Vidya Balan we are not hinting at any physical or cosmetic alterations for the good-looking hero. Or suggesting the 3 Idiots’ actor does a bold and blazon role like Vidya’s Silk from The Dirty Picture.
We are strictly evaluating their acting prowess. It’s because Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the producer of Sharman’s forthcoming film Ferarri Ki Sawaari (FKS), feels the actor is bustling with talent that hasn’t been tapped in to the fullest.
We agree with that, despite doing multi-starrers Sharman has stood out in all his performances in Golmaal, Rang De Basanti and 3 Idiots’. However, Chopra didn’t feel that in beginning. In a recent interview to a daily, the filmmaker said, “Sharman did a screen test. I was in the US.
The test was sent to me but I didn’t see it. I just didn’t want to see it. I was toying with the idea of casting big actors.” But when he heard Sharman was coming to the US, he watched the test video and was simply bowled over by his performance.
The filmmaker immediately made up his mind to cast him in the tale of a father and son. The Eklavya director believes Sharman will knock off everyone with his performance in FKS. And he is sure not to go wrong in his judgment, just like he wasn’t wrong when he decided to cast Vidya for Parineeta. Let’s hope Sharman plummets into the big league with this movie, considering he has been waiting in the wings for way too long!
