Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is in a spot with police in Kochi, which registered a case against the actor today for violating provisions of Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act 1986.
Shah Rukh, who was here on December 4 in connection with the inauguration of the showroom, had performed the popular number 'Chamak Challo' from his recently released movie Ra.One, along with some skimpily clad artistes.
Police said the cases have been registered against Shah Rukh and partners of a textile showroom here, who organised the function, under sect 3, 6 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) act 1986 and under IPC sections 294 (obscene acts and songs), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
Ernakulam Judicial First Class Magistrate A Ijas had directed police to register cases against the actor and partners of the private textile showroom after a petition by one Mathew Saju Pulluvuzhi.
