Shahrukh Khan releases 'Don' comic bookShah Rukh Khan and the team of Don 2 turned up at a mall in Saket to release a comic book based on the forthcoming film on a foggy Monday evening. The actor and others from the film's cast and crew, including director Farhan Akhtar and actors Priyanka Chopra and Kunal Kapoor, were spotted posing and preening for the cameras and giving out some media-friendly bites at the do.

Almost in sync with Farhan's decision to churn out a sequel of Don, the event also saw a sequel of sorts the day after. While the comic book, titled Don: The Origin, was officially launched at the mall gala, the film's team decided to distribute the comic books to fans and the media only on Tuesday at the New Delhi station's Airport Metro Express Line station, thereby spreading the hype that the event generated over two days.

Indeed, when it comes to heightening promotional gimmicks, no one does it better than SRK. If many in the industry and the media felt the superstar did a publicity overkill for his last release, Ra.One, which opened in Diwali, SRK seems to be in no mood to slow down with the hardsell mantra for Don 2.

The buzz about Don 2 started doing the rounds even as shooting started with photographs of SRK's rasta hairdo been leaked online. He has been sporting the look all through the film's pan-Indian promotional tour, too. "Besides my look, the action in Don 2 will be a highlight. The stunts are totally different from the previous film. I particularly liked a car chase scene we shot in Berlin," he said at Monday's event. "Initially I was scared to do all the stunts and had planned to use a body double. But Farhan persuaded me to do my own stunts and I skydived some 99 times to get a particular shot right."

International stunt artist-director Wolfgang Stegemann, who has worked in Hollywood hits such as Hanna, Ninja Assassin and V For Vendetta, has directed the stunts in Don 2. SRK, in fact, has been aggressively promoting the film by touring the entire country over the past fortnight. He has also been all over FM radio and television, buying out print space in certain newspapers to promote Don-isms and mouthing dialogues from the film whenever he gets the chance.

The Patna leg of the film's promotions had to be cancelled because the local authorities refused permission citing security reasons, which in turn created a mini riot on the streets of the city. An interesting point in the evening came when a reporter from a regional channel asked him why his promotions were invariably targeted at the bigger channels and newspapers.

"I have been aggressively promoting the film and have been giving interviews to one and all. I am talking to everyone who my publicists ask me to," SRK claimed in reply. Of course, as in most media meets, the stars were obviously in the mood to play out their onscreen avatars for the press. "I will be seen playing the aggressive girl in the film because my character Roma will be actively chasing Don. I worked hard to do my own stunts in the film," Priyanka rattled off what seemed like rehearsed lines, in sync with the Junglee Billi avatar she plays in the film.

Shah Rukh was insistent on driving home the fact that his villainous role in the Don films would not have a negative impact on children. "As a father I choose my films responsibly. I do only those films which children can watch and understand. I have not used foul language that could have illeffects on the children," he said.
