Adrian Sutil's performance was one of the highlights of the 2011 season. The German driver had led Force India's amazing fightback and helped the team finished a respectable 6th in the team standings. However, the mainstay of Force India has parted ways with the team from 2012 onward after the announcement by the Silverstone based squad that Paul Di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg would their drivers for next year.

While Paul Di Resta will continue with the team for his second year, Hulkenberg, would be making a comeback to racing after a year's gap. The highly rated German driver had to take up a reserve role at Force India last year after having raced for Williams in 2010. Hulkenberg was unlucky to have missed out on a driver in 2011 despite a strong performance in 2010 with a struggling Williams car, even managing to grab a pole position against all odds.

Sutil's departure was on expected lines as his contract with the team ended this year. Having gained enough experience and a strong performance this season, Sutil has been widely tipped to make the transition to a bigger team with either Lotus Renault GP or Williams being the potential switch. However, with the former having announced its drivers lineup, Williams seems to be the only team available that can meet Sutil's aspirations.

Speaking about the choice of drivers for 2012, team principal Vijay Mallya said Paul and Nico were drivers with tremendous potential. "I think Paul caught the eye of everybody in the pit lane during his rookie season. His speed, maturity and racecraft confirmed that we were right to believe in him and we look forward to working with him again next year. As for Nico, we identified him as a rising star at the end of 2010 and chose to evaluate him during the course of this season." Despite having only limited time in the car, he convinced us that he deserved a race seat for 2012," he remarked.

Hulkenberg said he is extremely motivated for the new season. "It wasn't easy to watch from the sidelines this season, but I did my best to help the team and show what I was capable of. I'm keen to get down to work over the winter to develop our new car and help the team build on this year’s achievements," he said.
